There's a new action flick among the top 10 movies on Prime Video this week—"The Terminator." Sure, the 1984 sci-fi film featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger arguably at his best is an enduring classic, but "The Terminator" might be gaining popularity for other reasons: namely, a recently resurfaced rumor that the late O.J. Simpson was once considered for Schwarzenegger's role.
According to "The Terminator" director James Cameron, the idea of casting Simpson didn't go very far, but the story has gained new traction following Simpson's death on April 10. Prime Video users may be switching on "The Terminator" to imagine how Simpson could have played the titular cyborg. Or, this might just be another symptom of the action genre's lasting popularity among Prime Video audiences.
In fact, "The Terminator" isn't the only new action movie to join the already action-heavy list this week. "The Spiderwick Chronicles," a 2008 film adaptation of Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black's fantasy novels, has also made it into the top 10 rankings. An eight-episode TV adaptation just premiered on the Roku Channel on April 19, so viewers could be comparing the two or simply indulging in nostalgia for the older film.
